Olubukola Olusola-Makinde

I, Olusola-Makinde, Olubukola Olayemi is presently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology, the Federal University of Technology. I have a Bachelor of Technology degree in Microbiology (4.07/5.00), a Master of Technology degree in Environmental Microbiology (4.56/5.00) and PhD in Environmental Microbiology. I received an Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) Postgraduate Scholarship in 2016 and travel awards form International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUMBS) and International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) in 2019 and 2020 respectively. I have won grants from Tertiary Education Trust Fund in Nigeria. I became a Fellow of Nigeria Health Watch in 2025. I have forty (40) published papers in renowned journals and attended academic conferences both locally and internationally. I consult for a reputable non-governmental organization as health policy analyst. I am actively involved in young girls mentoring into STEM fields. My research interest is on environmental microbiology including agricultural technology, soil management and, air, water and wastewater quality. I tend to probe on impacts of these environmental biomarkers on public health and mitigating the dangers involved. I have keen interest in surveillance of antibiotic resistance and its impacts on human, animals and total environments. I am pressing into wet lab translation to community development through data presentation/modelling, public awareness, and policy calls.
My research focus is on environmental microbiology including agricultural technology, soil management and, air, water and wastewater quality. I tend to probe on impacts of environmental biomarkers on public health and its sustainable mitigation. I have keen interest on surveillance of environmental pollution and its impacts on human, animals and total environments. I am pressing towards translation of wet lab data into community transformations through data presentation/modelling, public awareness, and policy calls.
